Delta Zeta Minutes
Manteo Elementary School
Call to order & Welcome - 5:10 p.m. by Diane Childress
Regrets - Diane shared regrets from 15 members. 24 members attended in person, 5 virtually
Cheers, Tears and Recognitions (SYSTER share) - Diane recognized the Hostess Team led by Becky Strickland by thanking the group for the food and decorations.
Diane also recognized:
Inspiration: Jodie reflections on years of teaching “If I Could Teach you Teacher” - “you have touched so many people during your time as a teacher” and within our community. Looking back on the “full circle “Remember how many lives you’ve touched”
PROGRAM: “Knowing our Why” - a revisit and reflection on the purposes of DKG
Jodie share with us a presentation/slide show titled "Sustaining Pride in the Big Picture - A Reorientation for all DKG members"
Jodie, Rendy, Becki R., Becky S gave information relating to the 7 purposes, and our connection to those purposes in our own chapter:
Action Items:
The Nov. 16 treasurer report filed for audit
Old New/New News:
Following the September meeting, when we were unable to approve the Proposed Budget due to there not being a quorum present.
Prior to the November meeting, a group met to create a Google Form that better clarified each of the funds we have contributed to in the past. Members were asked to rank the funds they prefer we continue supporting. There were 37 responses to the form, and Projects were voted on in the following breakdown:
Jen also led Discussion about the Proposed Budget and Local Contriutions:
Jen clarified the existing budget: (regarding contributions)
Lydia made a motion that we spend $112 to State Headquarter fund, and remaining $600 is divided as: $100 NCDKG Education Fund, $100 Emergency, $200 Food for Thought, $200.
Sue Ward seconded the motion.
The budget was approved!!!
At the end of the year we will revisit any remaining money

From Anna Thomas - written letter informing of her stepping away from DKG.

- Kassie Mount: sweet note about the inner “smile” she shares with the world from a parent (who wrote he never sends thank you’s
- Peoples Choice Award Teachers: Katie Blanchard and Shannon
- "Thank you" to Margarent Lawler for her contribution to our community, 16 years+
- “Thank you” to Rendy King - Marathon Hydration team guru - and her helpers : (9)Debbie Ashe, Becky Strickland, Barbara Hardy, Sue Ward, Becki Rea, Mary Blyth, plus non-members Yani Farrow, Freda Ballard, Mark Mitchu. It was a long, wet day and the volunteer help was definitely appreciated

Prior to the November meeting, a group met to create a Google Form that better clarified each of the funds we have contributed to in the past. - DKG contributions as well as local contributions we have $712
- unspent $ (at the end of the year) is rolled over into the Jeanette Guard Memorial Fund (motion approved a few years ago). Do we want to instead use the extra $ roll into other contribution areas as chosen
- Rosebud Award (State Recognition) has changed criteria, which may open up

Committee Reports:
- April 28-30, Convention is in Greenville. Region 1 will host. Our responsibilities are:
- Theme Basket for Silet Auction - Shannon Brinkley (NHES) will receive donations for a beach-themed basket (including $ and VENMO) Cassie Mount will organize and prepare the basket
- Hospitality Room: Shannon will collect donations and items for this room.
- Door Prizes - Linda Jernigan and Leela Harpur have offered to donate two of these (all chapters are asked to offer something as a door prize).
- 3 School Supply Baskets - (each school will offer this) - Donations of supplies should be sent to Diane at FFMS and she and her FFMS team will put the centerpieces together to be donated to new teachers in the Greenville area.
- Nomination and Membership - no Honorary Members nominated this time.
- Scholarship - send info to Jodie for any applicattion for reimbursement/
- Beginning Teacher Committee: the list of BT’s expanded, and then returned to the original number. We had already purchased 17/ $40 gift cards - 8 additional gift cards were purchased . Thinking about how to expand BT program. Consider how to give support as BT Buddies, and develop this idea.
